Deflecting can be done on any attack, even the special spirit attacks with the big red indicators. Unlike blocking, a deflect has to be done at the exact moment an attack is about to hit you. Also, if you exhaust all your spirit then a block will fail.ĭeflecting is much more useful than blocking… but it is also more difficult to master. Second, blocking will reduce your spirit so you have less to use for offensive attacks and wizardries. There are two caveats to that: First, some special attacks cannot be blocked at all. Blocking is something you can hold down persistently… any attacks that come in will be blocked and no damage will be dealt to you. However, visiting a battle flag will respawn all the enemies you had killed on the battlefield. If you die, you go back to the last battle flag you visited.īattle flags also restore your HP and healing pots. This is because battle flags act as a check point. Bosses usually have a moral rank of 20, so you will want moral of 20 or higher to stand a chance against them.īattle flags are the more important of the two flag types. This is important for the final boss fight. If you find them all, you will have a fortitude level of 20. The only way to increase your fortitude level is to find marking flags and battle flags. Avoid challenging a boss until you have found all the flags However, if you had a fortitude rank of 5, then your moral would reset to 5 after a death. So if you die with a fortitude level of zero, then your moral will reset to zero. When you first enter a battlefield, your fortitude level will be zero. Your fortitude level is the baseline moral rank that you will revert to upon death. As a bonus, when you first discover a flag it will restore your HP. With each flag you find, your fortitude level increase. Finding these flags is imperative for your overall success on a battlefield. Throughout each battlefield you will find two different types of flags: marking flags and battle flags. It is easy to grind enemies by resting at a battle flag to respawn the map. One thing that helped me a lot when I was stuck on a particular part of a level was to continuously kill easier targets until my Moral was a few levels higher than the enemies you are struggling with. Fortitude is increased by collecting flags throughout the level.
